Hip-Hop State Of Mind: Celebrating 50 Years of Hip-Hop

On August 11, 1973, the world was forever changed. Hip-Hop was born. The place was 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, the Bronx, New York, USA. The event was a “back to school jam” birthday party hosted by Clive Campbell AKA DJ Kool Herc.

50 years on, Hip-Hop has grown to become a global cultural force. Today, it’s influence is not only felt in music, but in everything from fashion to marketing to politics.

On Bounce, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop by looking at all the ways it has changed culture and music. Throughout the year we will feature some of Hip-Hops OG’s in revealing interviews and look at how the current generation is redefining the genre.
